NatWest grassroots initiative will see Tom Shanklin and Stephen Jones offer advice and support to Welsh grassroots rugby clubs as members of The Rugby Force.
Wales’ Tom Shanklin and Stephen Jones have joined Scotland’s Al Kellock and Mike Blair, and England’s Lewis Moody, Martin Corry, Neil Back and Maggie Alphonsi to form The Rugby Force – a team of rugby legends offering grassroots clubs across Britain the chance to receive genuine support and advice at their NatWest RugbyForce weekend celebration on 12th and 13th August.
NatWest RugbyForce is a nationwide programme which aims to help clubs attract new members and to become stronger and more sustainable businesses.
These rugby icons will offer their specific knowledge and expertise in the game to help their selected clubs achieve their development goals in two key areas.
Former Wales centre Tom Shanklin returns to NatWest RugbyForce this year following his successful spell as honorary board member of COBRA Rugby Club where he helped the club raise over £13,000 for their development fund.
Tom will be providing expert business advice to a winning club while current Scarlets backs coach Stephen Jones will be giving coaching support to develop coaching best practice to benefit the whole club’s coaching structure.
Speaking on set at the launch of NatWest RugbyForce, Tom Shanklin said, “NatWest RugbyForce has enabled so many Welsh clubs to develop over the years. It’s a fantastic programme and I’m thrilled to be involved again this year. It is especially important for grassroots clubs to become more sustainable businesses, and I hope to work closely with the winning club to help them achieve this goal.”
To win a member of The Rugby Force at your NatWest RugbyForce weekend celebration, Welsh rugby clubs would need to register at www.natwestrugbyforce.wales by 21st May.
