Wanted: Future Welsh goalkeeping stars

Are you – or do you know – a budding young female Welsh goalkeeper?

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) Trust are searching for star ‘keepers of the future and they want clubs to get involved by putting forward any young goalkeeper that they think has potential to progress in the game.

Selected candidates will be invited to an FAW coaching day at Newtown on 31 May, where they will be put through their paces by Wales women’s goalkeeping coach Jon Horton and his team, in a bid to identify the best goalkeepers for future national squad selections.

A limited number of places are available, so coaches are asked to recommend goalkeepers, providing examples of their strengths and weakness, experience, skills and more. All candidates must be born between 1999 and 2006.

Any coaches wishing to recommend their goalkeeper should download and complete this recommendation form and email it to [email protected] as soon as possible.

Players who want to attend the session must contact their club coach, who needs to apply on their behalf using the attached form.

Successful candidates will be invited to attend the coaching day at Newtown AFC in Newtown, Powys on Wednesday 31 May from 10am – 4pm.
