Coach education weekend coming to Glasgow in June

Seven courses to choose from for Scottish coaches working at any level of grassroots football

SFA coaching courses - ToryglenThe Scottish Football Association has announced a weekend of coaching courses to take place at Toryglen Regional Football Centre in Glasgow in June.

The centre, located next to the national stadium at Hampden Park, will host a series of seven coach education courses from 24 to 26 June, covering all levels of the player pathway – children, youth and adult.

Courses consist of either six hours in one day (£45) or 12 hours across two days (£60) and cover various aspects of coaching the game. Further information can be found below.

Children’s Pathway

Level 1.1 – Early touches
Friday 24 June, 12pm to 6pm (6 hours). Fee: £45

For coaches who work with children of primary school age, with a focus on skill development, coaching technique and best age specific activities for developing players.

Level 1.2 – Coaching young footballers
Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 June, 10am to 4pm (12 hours). Fee: £60

Designed to assist coaches with the planning, preparation, organisation and evaluation of their coaching sessions.

Level 1.3 – Coaching in the game
Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 June, 10am to 4pm (12 hours). Fee: £60

Looks at the knowledge and understanding required to help players appreciate concepts such as width, depth and support within the small-sided game. Candidates are required to demonstrate the ability to coach basic strategies to players.

Youth / Adult’s Pathway

Level 1.1 – Development activities
Friday 24 June, 12pm to 6pm (6 hours). Fee: £45

For coaches who work with youths/adults 13+. The course will assist coaches to develop their coaching technique and focus on skill development.

Level 1.2 – Coaching footballers 13+
Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 June, 10am to 4pm (12 hours). Fee: £60

Designed to assist coaches with the planning, preparation, organisation and evaluation of their coaching sessions. The course will focus on coaching style and the use of differentiation, i.e. provision of practices to suit the wide range of abilities with the secondary school age group.

Level 1.3 – Coaching in the game
Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 June, 10am to 4pm (6 hours). Fee: £60

Goalkeeping

Level 1 – Goalkeeping certificate
Sunday 26 June, 10am to 4pm (6 hours). Fee: £45

Designed to assist coaches aged 16 or over working with goalkeepers from children to adults.
