Last chance for clubs to apply for £300 grant

Norwich’s Yelverton FC is celebrating after receiving a donation from the Mars Milk Play Fund

Grassroots football clubs in need of extra funding have just a few days left to apply for a grant from the Mars Milk Play Fund.

Mars are donating cash awards to sports individuals and clubs in need of extra funding so, whether you need help with new kit, travel costs, coaches, training or competition entry fees, visit marsmilk.com and tell them why you need some funding help.

The fund runs until 30 September, when a panel of judges will select ten applicants to receive a £300 cash donation. There is also a £1,000 award for the monthly People’s Choice award, where the public can vote for their favourite individual, club or team.

Among last month’s winners are Norwich’s Yelverton FC, who have secured four promotions in as many seasons and are now playing at their highest ever level.

The club has been going from strength to strength, but they currently have to play 15 miles away from the village, making it difficult for some players to get to.

Yelverton coach Mike Larkin says: “This donation couldn’t have come at a better time. To play at our current level, our ground needs to be of a certain standard.

“We have planning permission to transform our local facilities and are now raising the funds to build dug-outs and buy new training kit.”

The Mars Milk Play Fund is open to residents of, and clubs and organisations based in the UK and Republic of Ireland only. Applicants must be 18 years or over and only one application will be accepted per person, club or organisation. To apply visit marsmilk.com.

My daughter has joined a brand new U10’s team that have just started up.
We are in need of training kits to fit a squad of 14 boys & girls of all different sizes…
The Manager & Coaches have put so much free time into developing this squad whom have just started their first time in a league – would like to give something back, your donation would help a great deal.

Hi I am on of the coaches for Rhydfelin U13’s and we could really use a new kit instead of hand me downs from last seasons teams, it would be a big boost to our squad to be all in the same kit for once, any donation would be a great morale booster.

As a club we have 9 youth teams from U7’s to U14’s, but it is our Soccer School for kids aged 4 to 6 which could do with some money. The sessions are totally free, and are very popular. So much so that we now have between 35 and 45 kids coming along reguarly. Unfortunately with this many kids you need a lot more equipment, and this is where the funding would go.

The new kemnay under 13s team that has just started would be very grateful for the funding as they dont have a full set of home kits some of the kids have different shorts so it would be nice to see all the kids with the same kits on

Hi I’m a manager for an u18s team in the djm Horsham league.

We have just moved clubs and this is my fist season coaching. I’m just getting to grips with all the fees you have to pay. For example ref fees, coaching equipment. We would you use the funding if given to cover cost of things like, new jackets for all the members of the team and managers.

We have been running a team of youngster between the age of 16-24 which have been in the leicester Sunday league for the last four years and have been self sustainable club.

However this year we would like to have any help we can get as we are struggling to cope with likes of pitch fees, new kit coaching materials and the ref cost.

So please help us with whatever you can to sustain the club and help the youngsters we have been helping all this long.

Thank you very much for giving us the the opportunity to put our request through.

    Kind regards
