The Football Association has announced its first ever dedicated futsal conference, to take place at St George's Park this autumn.
The two-day FA Licensed Coaches' Club 2014 Futsal Conference will take place on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November and will focus on the growing influence that futsal is having on player development in England.
Futsal is an indoor five-a-side game - the name comes from the Portuguese 'futebol de salão' or 'hall football' - played on a hard court with a smaller, heavier ball than traditional football, thus placing greater emphasis on skill, creativity, improvisation and technique.
The fastest-growing indoor sport in the world, futsal has been growing in popularity in the UK for many years.
The FA National Futsal League features the best teams in England competing in regional divisions, while the FA Futsal Fives League offers people of all ability levels and experience the opportunity to get involved in the game.
Now at the first-ever futsal conference - entitled 'A Catalyst for Change' - the FA is giving football coaches the opportunity to hear from some of the top names in futsal, including England national coach Pete Sturgess and team psychologist Dr Martin Turner, with more names set to be added to the bill in the coming weeks.
Open to coaches of all levels, the conference is designed for any coach interested in futsal as a primary coaching pathway or as a development tool and will provide an ideal opportunity to network, learn and share new ideas. It will also provide coaches with the opportunity to complete six hours CPD for each day of the conference they attend.
