Club Website backs the bid!

Back the Bid orangeClub Website is pleased to announce that we are backing the England 2018 World Cup bid.

And we’re not just casting our personal opinion here; we speak on behalf of our Club Website members, the great British footballing public.

During the England 2018 bid team’s  recent Back the Bid week, we thought it only right to ask if you guys out there backed the bid.

The answer was a resounding YES.

Almost 8,000 of you responded to the poll, with a whopping 78 percent showing their support for the bid.

Breaking down the figures, we found that nine out of 10 of our English members said they want to see the World Cup back in England for the first time since 1966.

This same view was expressed by over half of our non-English members, the vast majority of whom are from elsewhere in the British Isles.

With the prospect of a World Cup on their proverbial doorstep, 52 percent of our non-English members said they’d like to see the world’s greatest football tournament come to the UK for the first time in over half a century.

Over two million people from over 160 countries have so far backed the bid, a level of support described as “fantastic” by England legend John Barnes.

“Fans can play a major role in this bid by showing the world how passionate we are about football,” he told Club Website.

“I know first-hand that football is in our DNA and you will find fans talking about the game in every town, city and village in the country.  We want to give the world a sense of the fantastic welcome we would give to every visiting community.”

Back the Bid logoHere at Club Website we think that a successful 2018 bid can only be a good thing.

Not only would you have the greatest tournament in the world taking place on these shores, but it would bring all the colour and life of the world’s most passionate football fans to cities and towns across England.

And on top of all that, getting the chance to see the best players on the planet strutting their stuff will surely encourage kids across the country to get involved in the game.

John Barnes agrees: “A World Cup in England would inspire a generation of new players at home and abroad.  It would also give us the chance to build on current grassroots schemes run by the English football family.

“That would mean more coaches, referees and facilities for players not just in England but around the world if our bid is successful.”

“I am sure fans will continue to get behind us in large numbers and drive the bid on until the outcome is decided in December.”
