England Football Day is here tomorrow – Saturday 12 June – as the FA call on the country to show their support for the national game with a nationwide festival of football.

With England’s World Cup opener against the USA to follow later that evening, the game’s governing body are using the game as vehicle get new people involved in our national sport, with over 300 England Football Day festivals taking place across the country.

Organised by the very people at the heart of the grassroots game, the festivals will see clubs, schools and businesses across the country throwing open their doors and encouraging people to sign up for a team, become a volunteer, get into coaching or just celebrate English football!

England’s World Cup players helped launched the event last month and Fabio Capello is urging everyone to get involved.

“In England we each share a wonderful passion for the game,” said the England manager. “I’m sure England Football Day will be a positive experience for the whole country. It is a great opportunity for players, children and families to get involved in football and inspire a new generation.”

Tomorrow’s festivals are open to everyone and will involved anything from mini-soccer competitions, coaching sessions or even getting troops together to give a new lick of paint to their clubhouse, before many festivals round off the day by screening the big game and cheering on England.

England Football Day launch at WembleyKelly Simmons, The FA’s Head of the National Game said: “What better time to get more players and quality coaches into football than while England are competing in the FIFA World Cup.

“England Football Day has the full support of Fabio Capello and the England team who want fans, players and coaches to get behind what is set to become the biggest celebration of football our country has even seen.”

No doubt the majority of you are involved in football already, but we’d still encourage you to get involved and enjoy the day. Maybe you can take along a friend or family member who’s not involved in the game already and help spread the joy!

Club Website wishes all of our members and anyone else involved in England Football Day the best of luck for a fantastic day. Let’s hope for some decent weather to help out and an England win to round the day off nicely!
